'A capitalist wanders into the not-for-profit industry - nine things I've learnt in eight years of giving' by Mark Cubit

Mark Cubit's background includes five years living and working in Japan and 15 years in stockbroking, concluding his time at Merrill Lynch Equities Australia in 2003 as Managing Director in charge of Institutional Equity Sales to Melbourne and Asian-based clients.

After leaving the finance industry, Mark has divided his time between management of investment portfolios and contributions to the not-for-profit sector. He is a trustee of Planet Wheeler Foundation, one of Australia's largest private foundations, and the Cubit Family Foundation.

His voluntary roles included three years with The Smith Family in fundraising and management of the Victorian Toy and Hamper Appeal, as well as advisory roles to a number of Australian and offshore-based organisations.

Mark is Chairman of The East Africa Fund (the Australian arm of The School of St Jude Tanzania) and a board member of The Beacon Foundation and We-do-IT Pty Ltd.
